PreCollege Coordinator

Position Summary: The Pre-College Coordinator within the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs is responsible for recruiting, coordinating and running outreach programming for under-represented students at the UW-Platteville; this includes running pre-college summer camps. In addition the Pre-College Coordinator works with the Multicultural Student Affairs team to establish, maintain and improve retention and degree completion efforts for under-represented minority students at UW-Platteville. Salary for this position is $40,000-$46,000, commensurate with experience. Responsibilities: • Responsible for all facets of pre-college camps offered through the department of Multicultural Student Affairs, and works in coordination with other pre-college programming at UW-Platteville. Collaborates with the management team on providing the SUCCEED Summer Bridge Program. • Responsible for all outreach efforts at the pre-college level and represent the department at appropriate recruitment events. • Develop, coordinate and provide instruction of outreach programming. • Create and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (school counselors, community organizations, etc.). • Maintain and enhance academic year pre-college outreach activities. This includes running a variety of College Clubs and managing wrap-around services throughout the school year to help create pathways to education. • Apply for and complete all necessary components to assist in securing funding (e.g. DPI grant management). • Work evening and weekend events, as well as travel as necessary. • Hire, train and supervise pre-college student staff. • Maintain and establish community partnerships in the tri-state regions to assist with recruitment of diverse students in pre-college outreach. • Oversee pre-college budgets, staffing and management of resources. • Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor degree. • A minimum of at least two years experience working with under-represented minority youth. • Working knowledge of college readiness, financial literacy and recruitment strategies that affect access to education, retention, and achievement gap for underrepresented minority students. • Experience working with diverse students from African American, Native American, Latinx, Hispanic and Southeast Asian populations. • Experience in the development and management of student programming, workshops and service learning. • Requires a professional who is detail-oriented, takes direction well, has the capacity to be a leader and a role model, and can work both independently and in a team setting. • Excellent interpersonal, oral, written, group facilitation and organizational skills along with the ability to exercise initiative when appropriate. • Skilled in developing student leadership. • Current and valid driver’s license and ability to travel. Preferred Qualifications: • Master’s degree. • Additional language skills of Spanish and/or Hmong are preferred. • Marketing, web design and public relations skills.
