Subacute/Crisis Stabilization Unit Counselor

About the Program

Subacute is a 9 bed short-term residential facility offering intensive, recover-orientated services designed to stabilize an individual experiencing a decreased level of functioning due to a mental health condition, whose immediate treatment needs require a structured 24 hour residential setting. This level of care primarily serves as a step down from acute psychiatric inpatient care/hospitalization. Services provided include, but are not limited to:

  • Multidisciplinary evaluation
  • Medication management
  • Individual, family, and group therapy
  • Referrals to less intensive services/community reintegration strategies at the end of their stay

Your Responsibilities

As a Subacute Counselor, your primary responsibility includes providing health services to persons with serious and persistent mental illness with the goal of stabilizing and reintegrating them back into the community. This includes:

  • Providing supportive counseling
  • Establish treatment plan goals and crisis plans
  • Completing paperwork and recording data in EHR
  • Completing incident reports
  • Providing Client Orientation upon admission to the crisis facility

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours or equivalent in a human services field
  • 2 years of experience in mental health setting
  • Knowledge of mental illness , developmental disabilities, trauma, behavioral and rehabilitation theories
  • Skilled in handling crisis situation
