Document Imaging Specialist - Health Information Management - Full Time - Days

The Document Imaging Specialist is accountable for preparing medical record documents for integration within the electronic patient record. General responsibilities are to perform chart prepping, scanning and indexing within the patient's record.

Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in a manner that reflects honest, ethical and professional behavior. Responsible for timely and accurate prepping, scanning and indexing all paper records and loose documents. Retrieve paper documents from defined patient care locations. Able to make rounds throughout the hospital and interact professionally with clinical staff while gathering and scanning records from patient care units. Responsible for phone coverage and general office duties. Maintains scanners and other office equipment.

Complies with current rules, regulations, policies, procedures and statuses that affect his/her job. Modifies work schedule to meet department goals and deadlines. Adheres to customer service standards. Follows HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission and DNV regulations and standards. Willing and ready to assist other team members with their duties as time permits or need arises. Readily identifies work that needs to be performed and completes it without needing to be told. Critical thinking necessary to prepare documents for scanning including the identification of documents that are not to be scanned, choosing the correct document type for indexing, and entering the appropriate descriptive information. Keen attention to detail and sound judgement required to ensure accuracy of the legal medical record

 Must be a high school graduate. Health information experience preferred. Previous training or experience working with medical record documentation preferred. Understanding of privacy laws as it relates to not discussing patient information outside of work responsibilities.
