About the Program
The Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) aims to provide a comprehensive range of mental health and substance-use disorder services, with an emphasis on helping vulnerable individuals. These services include:
- Crisis mental health services
- Outpatient mental health and substance-use services
- Screening, assessment, and diagnosis
- Patient-centered treatment planning
This program will benefit uninsured, under-insured, and under-served residents in Dubuque and Jackson counties, by offering multiple services and creating a more accessible and seamless environment for clients. Our goal is to remove barriers and improve access to care and reduce wait times to give our clients quicker access to services.
Your Responsibilities
As a Medical Coder, your primary responsibility is to assign codes to documented patient care encounters for one or more specialty and subspecialty health care services. Additional responsibilities include:
- Assisting Accounts Receivable by generating all patient claims to all third party providers
- Providing functional and technical support to users of EHR system
- Reviewing record documentation to abstract all required medical, demographic, social, and administrative data
- Providing support in the areas of regulations and policy, coding requirements, reimbursement, accepted nomenclature, and proper sequencing
What You Need
- Associates degree in Health Information Technology, Medical Coding, or related field
- Must have previous experience working with insurance companies, billing, etc. in a health care setting. Bachelors degree preferred.
- Knowledge of coding systems preferred; including the International Classification of Diseases Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM), with transition to (ICD-10), Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) with transition to (DSM 5), current procedural Terminology (CPT), and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS).
- Must have a working knowledge of anatomy and physiology, disease processes, informatics, legal and quality management principles, business and computer technology, and practical applications in coding, reimbursement, quality management, health statistics, release of information and data analysis, as well as the ability to utilize software applications that collect, store, process, retrieve and analyze health information.
