Job Overview

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve satisfactory quality of products to customers by providing guidance, action and improvement where needed.
  • Provide quality leadership and expertise to the team.
  • Develop and monitor plans to improve the quality system.
  • Coordinate the plant-wide corrective and preventive action and problem resolution of customer complaints, field failures, and product returns to insure prompt and effective responses.
  • Perform basic quality techniques to track, analyze, and report on materials, processes, and products to ensure they meet requirements.
  • Manage internal non-conforming materials and drive corrective actions with necessary parties.
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of plant quality policies and procedures.
  • Design or specify inspection and testing equipment.
  • Conduct training for personnel regarding interpretation of drawings, specifications, and how to conduct basic measurements and record results.
  • Assist with the qualification of new equipment.
  • Aid in the development of work instructions to support product quality.
  • Develop a strategy that maximizes customer service satisfaction level and meets annual goals.
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis, PDCA and continuous improvement.
  • Use lean manufacturing methodology to drive improvements within areas of responsibility.
  • Occasional travel to customer and/or vendor sites.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • A Bachelor’s degree is preferred (Engineering, Business, Operations/Production Management, or related field).
  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) certification a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, and stooping. Strength rating for this job is L – Light Work – exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical requirements are more than those for sedentary work.
