About the Program

Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is a nutrition and supplemental food program for pregnant, postpartum (up to six months postpartum), breastfeeding women; infants; and children to five years of age.

The purpose of the WIC program is to help keep women and their children less than five years of age, healthy and strong. WIC can provide:

  • Healthy foods like milk, whole grains, eggs, fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, baby formula, cereal, and others
  • Nutrition counseling
  • Breastfeeding counseling and supplies
  • Referrals to other health care services

Your Responsibilities

As Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Support Staff, for Hillcrest Family Services WIC Office in Clinton, IA, your primary responsibilities include providing general client/patient care. In addition, you will:

  • Initiating and directing WIC clinic flow
  • Interviewing participants to enter accurate intake information into data system
  • Maintaining DHS online portal account for verification of participant insurance status for determining participant adjunctive eligibility
  • Assisting in filling out written forms as necessary
  • Treating WIC participants and community walk-ins with dignity and respect
  • Demonstrating knowledge of data system (FOCUS) and ability to use it to determine WIC program eligibility
  • Educating participants on WIC benefit usage, redemption methods, use of smart phone app., and balance inquiry methods
  • Distributing WIC cards & assists in PIN setup

What You Need

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or NCR accepted)
  • Bookkeeping and clerical experience
  • Good office and customer service skills
  • Agency driver
