About the Program

The School Based Youth Services (SBYS) program provides counseling services to public K-12 schools in Dubuque with master level therapists. These services include specialized counseling, psychotherapy, consultation, and evaluation in both individual and group settings.

Your Responsibilities

As a Lead Therapist, for Hillcrest Family Services in Dubuque, IA, your primary responsibilities include providing specialized counseling, psychotherapy, consultation and evaluation services to children and adolescents in a school based setting In addition, you will:

• Direct and supervise the overall operations of the SBYS Program
• Display accurate assessment and diagnostic skills
• Conduct individual and group counseling to assist referred students identifying ways to more effectively manage their mental health needs and stressful situations
• Establish reviews and evaluate various treatment goals and methods in order to develop an individualized treatment plan
• Refer students and their families to various community service providers as appropriate

What You Need

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field from accredited college
• Experience with Grant Programs and budget processing
• Prior clinical work experience in a school setting
• Knowledgeable of growth and development issues specific to children and young adults
• Positive community presence coordinating with school personnel
• Acceptable agency driver

• Related prior experience in the mental health field
• Licensed (LISW, LMHC, temp LMHC, LMFT or LMSW)
• Previous supervisory experience
