Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Director of Admission, Advising and Retention in the Office of Graduate Studies.  The University of Dubuque offers an excellent benefits package including tuition remission, paid holidays, vacation and sick time and a retirement match.

Primary Responsibilities:

Admission:

  • Develop a student recruitment plan and manage the recruitment process for traditional graduate programs, including corporate and community outreach that results in identifying prospective students
  • Regular travel to/or meet remotely with businesses, college influencers, and prospective new students
  • Work with marketing and communications to ensure programs are known in local and remote communities
  • Maintain Graduate Studies social media platforms and the Graduate Programs Website
  • Aggressively follow up via in person, phone, email, and social media with inquiries regarding the application process, financial planning, and enrollment
  • Provide strategic vision and direction regarding emerging markets and enrollment opportunities
  • Conduct new student orientation and onboarding of new students
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

Advising and Retention:

  • Communicate with graduate students based on the student's preferred contact time
  • Provide appropriate support services with students based on student's perceived need and knowledge of personal strengths/weaknesses
  • Provide creative approaches to student success, persistence, and satisfaction
  • Establish cooperative and collaborative relationships with faculty, staff, and other internal customers
  • Commencement and/or commencement related activities may be required

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communication, Education or a related field, Masters preferred
  • Prior experience working in a college admission environment preferred; some evenings and weekends required
  • Previous recruiting and/or sales/marketing experience with prospecting and closing skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work with adult students
  • Experience working with a diverse student population
  • Comfortable utilizing technology and social media platforms
  • Flexibility to travel (locally) two to three days per week year-round; requires valid driver's license
  • Ability to work events which may include walking distances, stairs, and standing for long periods
  • Ability to establish/maintain appropriate and effective communication (both oral and written) and interpersonal relations with students and throughout the campus, college, local and remote communities
