Job Specifications

Buyers are responsible for sourcing, procuring and negotiating for materials, equipment, services and supplies as needed to support manufacturing operations, customer requirements and corporate goals. This position works with all functional areas to resolve production issues, and must apply complex problem solving skills. Buyer’s liaison with Suppliers, Sales, Design and Manufacturing on all matters to assure that corporate objectives are met. They monitor and evaluate supplier performance, provide coaching and take corrective action, providing feedback to Supply Chain Manager.

Skill Set

• S. degree in Business, Logistics or Marketing is preferred
• 2-3 years year experience in progressively more responsible roles in sourcing required
• Knowledge of extrinsic factors related to commodities purchased is needed.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and knowledgeable of resource and planning information systems
• Lean Manufacturing techniques of value stream mapping, kanban, JIT, one piece flow, etc.
• Experience with negotiating contracts, quotes, prices and delivery times while upholding high levels of customer service
