Job Overview

At Clarke University, everything we do is focused on making an impact on students so they can positively impact the world. For students, that means providing a place where more than facts are studied – it means new ways of thinking are explored. For faculty and staff, that means more than just coming to work every day – it means collaborating across the university to put student success first. It also means living and working in a thriving city named one of the “most livable” small cities in the country and one of “Best Green Places” in the country.

We seek a highly motivated, positive-minded, collaborative faculty member to teach in the Masters of Athletic Training Program and Health, Wellness and Behavioral Sciences Department at Clarke University. The successful applicant will be hired on a three-year renewable contract with the possibility of transitioning to a tenure-track contract at a later date. The faculty member will serve as a teaching and clinical faculty member, who collaborates with university and local health-care professionals. The new faculty member will teach predominately courses in Therapeutic Interventions and Athletic Training. The faculty member will be asked to teach in other fields of Health, Wellness, and Behavioral Sciences and collaborate across disciplines, e.g., with Physical Therapy. The faculty member will also participate in all aspects of the CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program, including supervision of clinical experiences.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree (PhD or EdD) in a related field and BOC Certification in good standing are required. We will consider applicants who are ABD but prefer for the candidate to have a doctorate in hand. Iowa licensure eligibility is essential in addition to a solid understanding of CAATE's guidelines and workings and adherence to the NATA Code of Ethics and other Standards of Professional Practices. Teaching experience in a CAATE accredited program is preferred, as is a background in behavioral sciences and health and wellness. The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively in a university firmly grounded in the liberal arts tradition with a strong sense of community and Catholic identity committed to the values of education, justice, charity, and freedom.

To apply, please upload a letter of interest, teaching philosophy, current CV, three letters of recommendation, and unofficial transcripts for highest degree earned or, if in progress, doctoral degree online at http://clarke.applicantpool.com. Confidential letters of recommendation can be emailed to HRletters@clarke.edu. Review of applicants will begin immediately. August 2022 is the start date for this employment.
