Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Graduate Intern- in the International Student Services and Study Abroad Office for the 2022-2023 term, with a potential renewal for 2023-2024. The International Student Services and Study Abroad Office at the University of Dubuque (UD) is responsible for international student services and study abroad on the UD campus.  The internship is budgeted $11,000 payable monthly, September through May, for the academic year; and hours are flexible based on agreement (20 hours per week required).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate International Student Orientation Week. This includes assisting with event planning and working directly with arriving students
  • Program planning and execution for international students throughout the semester, focusing on innovation within the constraints of a limited budget.
  • Study abroad promotion and advising
  • Update website and social media platforms
  • Collaborate with departments within Student Life and the Student Engagement team, as well as across the campus community to create innovative programming
  • Opportunity to design and implement programs according to his/her own interests and may have the opportunity to access international student advising tools if there is an interest to do so
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required and the position is conditional based on participation in a relevant graduate program at UD, online, or at a nearby institution
  • Proficient computer skills (Excel spreadsheet, Outlook, Data entry technology, PowerPoint, Word, Internet, Search engines, and social media)
  • Flexibility with schedule as need arises (ex. evening or weekend commitments)
  • Utilize excellent communication skills—verbal, written, and interpersonal
  • Ability to work with a variety of students, staff, faculty, alumni, and community professionals
  • Strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple ongoing projects at a given time
