Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant- Women’s Volleyball for the 2022-2023 term, with a potential renewal for 2023-2024.

The University of Dubuque (UD) Volleyball (NCAA Division III) is a competitive program in the Midwest and the American Rivers Conference. In 2018 and 2019 the Spartans won the Conference Tournament Championship and qualified for the NCAA Regional Championships.

UD is located in the scenic Mississippi river valley in the city of Dubuque, Iowa (population of 58,000); and is approximately 3 1/2 hours from Chicago and Milwaukee, and about 5 hours from the Twin Cities and St. Louis. Anticipated start date is August 1st, 2022.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist the head coach with player instruction & development including planning and supervision of practices, game planning & game day coaching, & player evaluation development
  • Provide positive motivation and support for student-athletes
  • Contribute to the program culture actively and positively; recognizing student-athletes as “whole people” that we are helping to lead on and off the court
  • Recruit and scout prospective student-athletes
  • Assist head coach in all aspects of organizing, implementing, and working fundraising events; including club tournaments, camps and clinics
  • Provide game and event management for the athletic department outside of our fall season
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University’s Mission

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters’ program
  • Positive attitude with a high level of self-motivation and accountability
  • Effective communication and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior coaching or playing experience at the collegiate level (NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA)
  • Desire to pursue a career in coaching or athletics at the high school or collegiate level

All graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA.  In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week.
